Maria Leopoldina von Österreich , geborene Erzherzogin von Österreich, war die treibende Kraft hinter der Unabhängigkeit Brasiliens.

Als Ehefrau von Kaiser D. Pedro I. war sie von 1822 bis zu ihrem Tod die erste Kaiseringemahlin von Brasilien und zwei Monate lang Königingemahlin von Portugal und den Algarven.
