Pedro, Infante of Portugal, 1st Duke of Coimbra, was an infant of the Avis dynasty, son of King João I and D. Filipa de Lencastre, and one of the first of the Ínclita generation.

Pedro was regent from 1439 to 1448, a period marked by the expansion of the Discoveries and mercantile development. Due to his travels abroad, he became known as the “Infante das Sete Partidas”. He died in the Battle of Alfarrobeira in May 1449 and was buried in the Monastery of Batalha in 1455.
